Since the focus is currently on the GeForce RTX 4090 (test), Nvidia has made far-reaching changes to the driver without much announcement. As the first tests confirm, the mining brakes of the GeForce graphics cards were completely deactivated again with the latest graphics driver GeForce 522.25 (test).
GeForce 522.25 disables Mining Brake 2.0
While workarounds and special applications, such as the mining app “Quick Miner” developed under the code name “Excavator”, the T-Rex Miner and the NBMiner, were necessary to bypass the mining brake 2.0 of the LHR graphics cards, the GeForce graphics cards will again deliver the full hash rate in the future.
Workarounds are no longer required
The so-called limiter for the Lite Hash Rate (“LHR”) ) no longer works after installing the latest GeForce graphics driver, as several tests on Reddit and YouTube have shown.
- Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti: 58MH/s → 112MH/s
- Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti: 40 MH/s → 81 MH/s
- Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070: 26 MH/s → 62 MH/s
- Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060: 22 MH /s → 47 MH/s
In addition to the three tested Ampere graphics cards, the mining brake is also released on all other LHR models that were previously slowed down to below 50 percent of their original hash rate. However, the mining brake 2.0 could already be bypassed beforehand.

With the change in blockchain from Proof of Work to Proof of Stake, the previously extremely popular cryptocurrency Ethereum (ETH) in particular is unprofitable and therefore uninteresting for miners become.
The mining brake that has now been removed will therefore have more of an effect on the assets Ethereum Classic, Ergo and possible forks, which should therefore come more into focus.
