Law & Right. The district court has today sentenced a Swedish man to two and a half years in prison after an incident where a gun was fired on a tram in Gothenburg and a woman was injured.

In August, a woman was shot on a tram in Gothenburg.
The District Court now sentences a man to two years and six months in prison for causing bodily harm, serious crime, and serious weapons crime .
The man had found the gun by accident and handled it on the tram. He then pulled the gun's trigger so that a shot fired.
– It is clear that there was never any direct intention to fire a loaded gun or to injure anyone. But handling a gun in the way the man has done involves deliberate risk-taking of a serious kind. After the shot, the man also continued to hold the gun for about an hour and a half. He is therefore also sentenced for serious weapons offences, says the chairman of the court, councilor Johan Wilhelmsson.
The man is also sentenced to pay damages to the woman.
