As early as May, WhatsApp announced that it was planning a premium service that, in contrast to corresponding offers from other messengers, will primarily be aimed at companies. Now the additional offer can be booked in the form of a subscription – but not by everyone.

Apparently, the premium version is not yet completely final, since the current beta version of WhatsApp Business is required for use and the number of authorized users is still kept low. Anyone who finds the new menu item “WhatsApp Premium” in the settings can join the offer. A price is not mentioned in the blog entry that has now been published, only a fee that varies depending on the country is mentioned. The service has not yet been released for all countries in which the messenger can be used. However, the number of these is to be steadily increased. The new service will not be available for the normal WhatsApp variant, i.e. the one used by customers.

New additional ones Functions

With the subscription, users get two new features: a custom business link and improved linking of multiple devices under one account. The business link is nothing more than a permanent short link that can be easily retained by the customer and should therefore enable him to make contact easily. This can also be changed once every 90 days. However, should the subscription be cancelled, the URL will expire immediately and will not be “protected” for a period of time. Other companies can use them themselves from this point on.

In addition, up to 10 devices can now be linked in one account, which makes it easier to manage and organize the various conversations among employees should design.

Basic functions still free

WhatsApp also clearly emphasizes in its message that all current business features remain free and that WhatsApp Premium is only an optional plan. The plan can be easily joined in the app, but according to the announcement, the cancellation must be made in the Play Store for Android and in Apple's App Store for iOS.
