Food prices continue to rise sharply

Economy. Food prices are still rising sharply and there is no sign of slowing down. Since the turn of the year, they have increased by almost 14 percent, according to figures from the independent Matpriskollen.

– It is a very boring situation that households face. 14 percent is the largest increase we have seen since the 90s. Now a lot is about winterizing, households will have to adapt, says Américo Fernández, private economist at SEB, to SVT.

Looking at the whole year, there are product groups that have increased in price by over 30 percent, for example liquid shortening, margarine and paprika.

Popular foodstuffs such as butter, cream and coffee have increased by over 25 percent since January, writes SVT.
