ComputerBase is currently testing the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 FE and the Asus GeForce RTX 4090 TUF OC. The tests will have to wait a while, but pictures can be shown. They really make it clear how big the new graphics cards will be – and show the included 12VHPWR adapter.
Nvidia Founders Edition and Asus TUF Gaming
Pictures say more than a thousand words, also in relation to the dimensions of the two graphics card heavyweights in the editorial office. The two models of the GeForce RTX 4090 are very large, ultimately even the largest and also the heaviest graphics cards that ComputerBase has ever had in the editorial office.
But the size is not that only feature that can be seen from the pictures. And so there is also a first, somewhat surprising insight into the power adapter of the Founders Edition.

But after unpacking, it becomes clear that Nvidia has maintained the excellent workmanship and material quality of the new Founders Edition adaptations of the Ada Lovelace generation. No other model will probably come close to the look and feel of the GeForce RTX 4090 FE, here the look corresponds to the high recommended price of 1,949 euros.

But the Asus GeForce RTX 4090 TUF OC is also impressive in this respect and continues the look and design of the previous generation in a slightly adapted and primarily larger form. You won't find plastic in this model with a 16-pin power connector for up to 600 watts. You can also see two BIOS versions (Quiet and Performance).

Adapters from 4× 8 pin to 12VHPWR are included
Both the Asus GeForce RTX 4090 TUF OC and the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 FE feature a 16-pin to 4×8-pin adapter. This makes it possible to supply up to 600 watts for the new 12VHPWR connector from four 8-pin PCIe connectors designed for up to 150 watts on power supplies without a new connector or separate adapter. Or in other words. Both graphics cards therefore require power supplies that have four 8-pin connectors.
This is surprising for the Founders Edition, because Nvidia only mentions a 3×8-pin adapter on its own website. But this statement is obviously wrong.

Who more If you want to know about the new Nvidia Ada Lovelace architecture, which will initially be used on the GeForce RTX 4080 and the GeForce RTX 4090, you will already find what you are looking for on ComputerBase. The editors have summarized all the details in a separate article. More information about other custom designs apart from the Asus TUF can be found in this message.
