We hardly watch traditional TV anymore. Streaming video services like Apple TV+ (try for free), Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon Prime Video are more important than ever. But local providers such as Videoland, CineMember and Ziggo also have plenty to offer. More series are added every week and it is nice if you know which series, films and documentaries really stand out. We have therefore made a selection.

New on Apple TV+: The Greatest Beer Run Ever

An Apple TV+ original movie starring Zac Efron as Chickie Donohue. It tells the incredible true story of a man who goes to Vietnam as a war volunteer with the sole purpose of bringing his fellow combatants a beer. The film is based on the book of the same name. When Donohue arrives and tells of his motives, his buddies react quite differently. Some are amused, others are very concerned. Donohue finds himself on the front lines, having to flee bombing raids and trying to stay out of harm's way, with remarkable luck. The film also features Russell Crowe as a war photographer. Both men become friends, although they have very different views on how the media should portray the war. We also see Bill Murray in a supporting role. Good story? Well that is not too bad. But if you like feel-good television you can still have an entertaining afternoon with this.
