Economy. Fuel prices are soaring after the reduction in energy tax ended. Both petrol and diesel have risen by SEK 1:31 since last Friday at Swedish petrol pumps.

On Saturday, petrol costs just over SEK 21 and diesel just over SEK 26.
The increase is due to the fact that the temporary energy tax reduction on fuel that was introduced in May has now ended.
Sweden has been given the green light to violate the EU's energy tax directive for another three months, but has not implemented any such legislative change. The price of petrol could then be reduced by around three kroner per liter and diesel by just over one kroner.
