Domestic. Staffanstorp's strongman Christian Sonesson (M) was elected to the Riksdag – but chooses to relinquish the post and continue as chairman of the municipal board in his home municipality.

“I said in the election campaign that I could imagine continuing, provided the voters want it and show their support,” writes Christian Sonesson on Facebook.
The support he received in the municipal election in Staffanstorp has been “overwhelming”, he continues. The moderates won close to 45 percent of the vote.
“I will therefore seek the confidence of my party to remain and continue as chairman of the municipal board.”
In the fall, he will hand over the Riksdag seat to the candidate below her on the Riksdag list, Emma Ahlström Köster, writes Christian Sonesson.
