Foreign. Russian President Vladimir Putin has granted Russian citizenship to American whistleblower Edward Snowden.

Edard Snowden has lived in Russia since 2013. In his home country of the United States, he is being hunted for having leaked information about the NSA's mass surveillance of American citizens.
Through a presidential decree, which was made public on Monday, Snowden is now granted citizenship in Russia.
The whistleblower has previously said he would retain his US citizenship but seek permanent residency in Russia.
