Even before the market launch, AMD's new CPU flagship Ryzen 9 7950X is celebrating records. World records for a CPU with 16 cores are reported in four OC disciplines. The processor was overclocked by around 20 percent each time, for which AiO water cooling was sufficient.

AMD drew attention to the world records in the HWBOT rankings in a press release. The results and configurations are as follows. The links lead to the entry on HWBOT.

  • 40,498 points in Cinebench R23 nT with a Ryzen 9 7950X @ 5.4 GHz all-core with a 280 mm AIO, ASRock X670E Taichi motherboard and 32 GB Kingston DDR5 memory
  • 15,771 points in Cinebench R20 nT with a Ryzen 9 7950X @ 5.35 GHz all-core with a 280 mm AIO, Gigabyte X670E Aorus Master motherboard and 32 GB G.SKILL DDR5 memory
  • 6,900 points in Cinebench R15 nT with a Ryzen 9 7950X @ 5 .5 GHz all-core with a 280 mm AIO, Asus ROG Crosshair X670E Hero and 16 GB G.SKILL DDR5 memory
  • 228,992 MIPS in 7-Zip with a Ryzen 9 7950X @ 5.45 GHz all-core with a 280 mm AIO, MSI MEG X670E ACE motherboard and 32 GB Corsair DDR5 memory

This surpasses previous leaders, mostly an LN2-cooled Ryzen 9 5950X with high overclocking. In Cinebench R23 Multi-Core, the 40,421 points are surpassed with an Intel Core i9-12900KS overclocked to 7 GHz and cooled with LN2.

According to AMD, this is just “a preview of the overclocking performance of the Ryzen 9 7950X.” Results with liquid nitrogen (LN2) as a coolant and potentially significantly higher clock rates are to be shared “soon”. AMD's pictures reveal that the first attempts have already been made.

Unofficially, there are already clock rates: @TUM_APISAK published screenshots with valid CPU-Z measurements on Twitter, which show a Ryzen 9 7950X a clock of around 7.25 GHz for one core and 6.5 GHz certify on all 16 cores. If the systems are stable enough for benchmarks with these frequencies, new records can be expected.
