Kitty Hawk is about to cease its activities. We are talking about a startup born to create personal flying vehicles renamed at the time as & quot; flying cars & quot; and also supported by Google co-founder Larry Page .

The company, which takes its name from the city & agrave; of North Carolina where the Wright Brothers' plane first took off, was founded in 2010 to substantially produce eVTOL , electric aircraft with vertical take-off and landing. The startup & egrave; was managed and co-founded by Sebastian Thrun, a former Google executive .

Since when & egrave; was founded, of the activities of this company & agrave; there has been little news except in some special cases. For example, in 2017, this company & agrave; had presented a very special aircraft called Flyer, designed to fly a person a few meters from the ground.

It was a prime example of what eVTOLs would later become. Kitty Hawk was also developing a two-person flying taxi called the Cora, an aircraft that would be launched through Wisk Aero, a joint venture Kitty Hawk formed with Boeing in 2019. However, Boeing will continue to do so. to carry on despite the end of Kitty Hawk's adventure.

Another project the company was working on, Heaviside, an electric plane that could fly and land anywhere autonomously. Over time, for & ograve ;, competition in the eVTOL sector & egrave; significantly increased.

That the company was going through a difficult period was pretty clear for some time even if unofficially it looked like it was working on other projects. Now, & egrave; the announcement of its upcoming closure has arrived. It will be important to understand if the company will be sold to continue its activities and not to disperse the acquired experience or if it will simply disappear.
