Denon: New AV receivers/amplifiers with even more 8K HDMI 2.1

Denon has introduced new home theater AV receivers and amplifiers that put even more emphasis on HDMI 2.1 with 8K60 support than the previous generation. New are the AVC-A1H as the flagship in the A series, the AVC-X4800H, AVC-X3800H and the AVR-X2800H/DAB in the X series and the AVR-S970H in the S series.

AVC-A1H

The AVC-A1H is the new top model in Denon's range for 6,999 euros and is designed as an 8K AV amplifier with 15.4 channels, which is 210 watts at 6 ohms in 1-channel operation, 190 watts at 6 ohms in 2- Channel operation and 150 watts at 8 ohms in 2-channel operation. As a special feature, not only this model is equipped with a complete 8K60 HDMI 2.1 board, which provides seven inputs and three outputs including a second zone. Another new feature are the four subwoofer outputs, which can optionally also be used with XLR. All new products support 3D sound formats such as Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, IMAX Enhanced, Auro-3D, Dolby Surround and DTS Virtual:X. The AVC-A1H is scheduled to be available from authorized retailers from February 2023.

AVC-X4800H

The AVC-X4800H is also planned for February at a price of 2,599 euros, which also consistently uses HDMI 2.1 for 8K60 for the seven inputs and three outputs. Up to four independent subwoofers can also be controlled here, but the XLR option is reserved for the AVC-A1H. The device is a 9.4-channel amplifier that delivers 200 watts at 6 ohms in 1-channel operation, 165 watts at 6 ohms in 2-channel operation and 125 watts at 8 ohms in 2-channel operation.< /p>

AVC-X3800H

The AVC-X3800H, which is scheduled to be launched this month for 1,699 euros in authorized specialist shops and also provides 9.4 channels, which is 180 watts at 6 ohms in 1-channel operation, 135 watts at 6 ohms in 2-channel operation and 105 watts at 8 ohms in 2-channel operation are somewhat weaker. The AVC-X3800H is also one of the new products with a pure HDMI 2.1 board, but only has six inputs but still has three outputs with a second zone. The pre-outs also include four cinch sockets for subwoofers on this model.

AVR-X2800H/DAB

The AVR-X2800H/DAB, which starts this month for 969 euros or 999 euros with DAB, has 7.2 channels. Apart from the support of digital radio, the DAB variant has an output power of 185 instead of 150 watts at 6 ohms in 1-channel operation, at 6 ohms in 2-channel operation and 8 ohms in 2-channel operation with 125 watts 95 watts respectively, but a tie. Apart from the different connection for DAB and FM, there is a simpler HDMI board from the AVR-X2800H/DAB, which offers three 8K and three 4K inputs and two 8K outputs.

AVR-S970H

The 7.2 model AVR-S970H for 969 euros* is only planned for sale via Amazon, which offers the same HDMI board as the AVR-X2800H/DAB, but with the pre-outs by two cinch sockets for a second zone was circumcised. Regarding the subwoofers, two can also be connected to the AVR-S970H. The output power is 145 watts at 6 ohms in 1-channel operation, 125 watts at 6 ohms in 2-channel operation and 85 watts at 8 ohms in 2-channel operation.

Update planned for Dirac Live

For the AVC-A1H, AVC-X4800H and AVC-X3800H, Denon plans to provide an extension to Dirac Live via a future software update. However, there is no concrete date for the real-time room correction yet.
