Shortly after the official presentation of the GeForce RTX 4090 and the two GeForce RTX 4080, the first custom designs from Asus, Gigabyte and MSI as well as other Nvidia partners are already in the shop window and taking part in terms of dimensions, with almost menacing dimensions. The cooling solutions are growing.

The manufacturer solutions shown so far in the form of custom designs of the new Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 and the two GeForce RTX 4080 are characterized above all by a lot of material used due to very expansive cooling solutions and a power supply that is usually particularly sophisticated with many phases. But we also thought of the special extras and the already obligatory (A)RGB.

Asus presents ROG Strix and TUF Gaming

Asus is presenting a total of six models from the ROG Strix and TUF Gaming series, which are aimed at gamers, just in time for the presentation of the three new GeForce RTX 4000 (“Ada Lovelace”).

  • Asus ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090 24GB
  • Asus ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4080 16GB
  • Asus ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4080 12GB
  • Asus TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 4090 24GB
  • Asus TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 4080 16GB
  • Asus TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 4080 12GB

As the absolute top model, the huge 3.5-slot high and almost 36 cm long ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090 relies on a power supply with 24+4 phases for the GPU, SoC and the GDDR6X memory.

Asus is demonstrating the dimensions that custom designs based on the GeForce RTX 4000 can assume with an official press photo of the ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090 24GB on an Asus X670E-I Gaming WIFI, a mini ITX motherboard for the upcoming AMD Ryzen 7000 (“Raphael”) series Zen 4 desktop CPUs.

In addition to the top-of-the-range ROG Strix series, Asus is placing all three models, the 4090/24GB, 4080/16GB and the 4080/12GB, also as TUF Gaming (OC), which comes with a slightly slimmed-down cooling solution and voltage modulation that is not quite as powerful. It's also a bit more subtle when it comes to RGB.

Asus has not yet commented on the availability and non-binding prices, and the key technical data on the CPU and memory clock as well as the TDP/TGP are still under wraps for the time being. Asus has only commented on the dimensions, cooling solutions and, in part, on the phase assembly.

Length Height Power supply Power connector Asus ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090 24GB 357 mm 3.5 slots 24+4 phases 1× 16-pin PCIe 5.0 Asus TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 4090 24GB 348 mm 3.65 slots 20+4 phases Asus ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4080 16GB 357mm 3.5 Slots – Asus TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 4080 16GB 348mm 3.65 Slots – – Asus ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4080 12GB 336mm 3.15 Slots – –

Asus recommends power supplies with at least 1,000 watts for all its GeForce RTX 4000 from GeForce RTX 4080/12GB upwards, such as the in-house ROG Thor 1000P2, ROG Thor 1200P2 and ROG Loki SFX-L 1000W Platinum.

Gigabyte presents three GeForce RTX 4090

Gigabyte has decided to do so, initially only Nvidia's new top model , the GeForce RTX 4090 with 24 GB GDDR6X, with a total of three custom designs just in time for the launch. Manufacturer solutions based on the GeForce RTX 4080/16GB and GeForce RTX 4080/12GB will follow later.

It starts with the Gigabyte Aorus GeForce RTX 4090 Master, the Aorus GeForce RTX 4090 Gaming OC and the GeForce RTX 4090 Windforce, where the Aorus model with complex RGB lighting (“RGB Halo”) and a programmable LCD for customizable animations stands out and ranked as the top model.

The programmable LC display in particular is a visual highlight. The well-known Aorus logos and lettering as well as personalized images and animations in the form of GIF files can be displayed here. The status values can also be read if desired.

Gigabyte has not yet announced any technical specifications for its three GeForce RTX 4090.

MSI puts the GeForce RTX 4090 under water

MSI provides a total of nine custom designs for the GeForce RTX 4090 and the two GeForce RTX 4080 in the three already known series Suprim X, Gaming X Trio and Ventus 3X as well as the new model series Suprim Liquid X and even puts the new top model under water with an AiO hybrid cooling system.

Even the small GeForce RTX 4080 with its 12 GB GDDR6X on a 192-bit wide memory interface gets a top model in the Suprim X series from MSI. The new top model, on the other hand, is the GeForce RTX 4090 Suprim Liquid X with an AiO hybrid cooler and a 240 mm -Radiator with two MSI Silent Gale P12 120mm fans.

MSI also relies on expansive and 3.5 to 3.75 slot high cooling solutions Based on the revised TRI FROZR 3S with vapor chamber and up to three new TORX Fan 5.0 fans. While the models based on the 4090 and 4080/16GB definitely have a 16-pin PCIe power connector, MSI has not yet decided on the three models based on the 4080/12GB.
