AMD is hosting a web seminar on October 4, 2022 to provide an “exclusive first look” at the upcoming AMD motherboards with B650 and B650E chipsets. In addition to AMD's product marketing manager, representatives from Asus, ASRock, Biostar, Gigabyte and MSI will be present and present their products.
The one-hour online Event starts at 5pm local time. Prior registration is required. The webinar is intended to give an outlook on the lineup of the respective manufacturer as well as functions and key data on the new mainboards.
- A sneak peek at Socket AM5 B650E and B650 motherboards
- AM5 B650E and B650 motherboard lineup, specifications, and features from ASUS, GIGABYTE, ASRock, MSI, and BIOSTAR
- How the Socket AM5 platform and AMD Ryzen™ 7000 Series processors deliver incredible performance
AMD's description of the October 4th web seminar
The mainboards with the chipsets B650 and B650E should lead the new socket AM5 platform for the Ryzen 7000 CPUs into lower price regions. The models with the X670 and X670E, which are expected to be very expensive, will start with better equipment at the end of September.
Differences between the B650(E) and the X670 (E)
A graphic from AMD (via VideoCardz) names the differences between the chipsets. Compared to the X670 models, the B650(E) only supports half as many USB and SATA ports. With the B650, PCIe 5.0 is purely optional and, if at all, only intended for an M.2 SSD slot. On the other hand, the B650E, where the E stands for “Extreme”, has PCIe 5.0 for both the graphics card and an SSD and thus up to 20 PCIe 5.0 lanes.

The X670 does not have PCIe 5.0 for the graphics card, but for the M.2 slot. The flagship X670E is equipped like the B650E in terms of PCIe 5.0. All four chipsets offer the option of overclocking the Ryzen CPUs.
Some B650 boards have already been leaked
As Rock and Asus, at least in name, the line-up of B650s could look like, there have already been hints with various models. There was also a photo of the strikingly designed ASRock B650 LiveMixer (cover image).
