Pine64, known for the Linux smartphones PinePhone and PinePhone Pro, is also presenting the Star64, a single-board computer in Raspberry Pi format based on the open RISC-V instruction set architecture with a quad-core CPU and a 3D GPU from Imagination Technologies. The price will later be between 60 and 80 US dollars.
Pine64 also combines a RISC-V CPU and 3D GPU
SiFive co-founded Chinese company StarFive's VisionFive 2 is followed by Pine64's Star64, which is also based on a combination of the latest SiFive JH7110, a quad-core RISC-V processor with four 1.5 GHz U74 processor cores, and the GPU Imagination BXE-4-32 MC4, which controls Vulkan and OpenCL and can fall back on four computing units and 16 texels, and is thus intended to further advance the open source instruction set architecture (ISA) under Linux and other free operating systems.
The Mini-PC based on the 100 × 70 mm circuit board should have the following specifications:
- SiFive JH7110 RISC-V System-on-a-Chip (PDF)
- SiFive U74 1.5 GHz quad-core
- 2 MB L2 cache
- 64-bit
- Imagination IMG BXE-4-32 MC4
- 4 compute units and 16 texels
- OpenGL 3.2, OpenCL 3.0, Vulkan 1.2
- H.264/H.265 4K @ 60 FPS decoding
- H.265 1080p @ 30 FPS encoding
- 4 or 8 GB LPDDR4 memory
- 3 × USB 2.0 and 1 × USB 3.0
- Wi-Fi 6 with 2 × 2 MIMO
- 2 × Gigabit LAN
- Bluetooth 5.2
- HDMI 2.0
There are also CSI and MiPi connectors as well as an eMMC and a microSD slot on the underside of the board. A 12 V power connection provides the energy supply for the single-board computer, which is to be delivered to the first developers in a few weeks. Visit the official blog for more information.

As part of the August update, the organization also has new information about the PineBuds Pro in-ear headphones and announced the PinePhone Pro. But here, too, the focus was on the single-board computer based on the open RISC-V architecture. Interested parties should contact the Discord channel.
New versions of the operating systems postmarketOS, DanctNIX, OpenSUSE and Manjaro are available for the PinePhone and PinePhone Pro.
