Open source paint program: Krita 5.1.0 for Windows, macOS and Linux released

The powerful open-source graphics and painting program Krita, which is published by the KDE e.V.-supported and part of the KDE project Krita Foundation, is available in the latest version 5.1.0 for the operating systems Windows, Linux and macOS appeared and offers users a further expanded set of features.

Krita 5.1.0 improves interoperability

The free, open-source drawing program Krita allows you to create drawings with extensive possibilities for editing images. In addition, Krita supports the editing of PSD files created in Photoshop and offers extensive training material. It also supports HDR content editing while accelerating many processes with OpenGL.

Since the major release of Krita 5.0 in December last year, the two file formats AVIF and WebP as well as new workflows have also been supported for the first time.

In addition, the program core of resource management has migrated into a SQLite-type database, which should provide additional speed and stability. In version 5.1.0, the export functions have now been further expanded.

Krita 5.1.0 for Android and Apple Silicon

In addition to the offshoots for Windows, macOS and Linux, the Krita project also offers several mobile versions for systems with Android based on a CPU or SoC from ARM or Intel. Apple Silicon and new program packages as AppImage are also supported.

The Android version also runs on Chrome OS and its open-source offshoot Chromium OS as well as CloudReady.
