The OLED.EX television shown by LG is said to deliver 97-inch 5.1-channel sound without any conventional speakers. Vibrations make it possible with the technology called Cinematic Sound OLED. The manufacturer is also presenting the first OLED.EX models with 42 inches and 48 inches for gamers.

The reason for the new presentations was the K-Display 2022 technology fair in South Korea, the home of LG and its subsidiary LG Display. There the company also showed transparent OLED screens for commercial use. For consumers, on the other hand, the products in the OLED.EX series are of interest. With this name, LG means the new generation of OLED televisions, which have up to 30 percent more luminosity compared to previous models.

The “97-inch OLED.EX display” attracted particular attention not only because of its size of 97 inches – that's almost 2.5 meters – but also because of its sound technology. With the help of the previously presented Cinematic Sound OLED (CSO) Technology, speakers can be dispensed with. Instead, the display itself vibrates and these vibrations are said to deliver cinema-class 5.1 sound, according to the promise.

However, a first implementation of the technology in the smartphone LG G8 could not convince testers. Things looked very different later with the Sony Bravia AG9 television with a comparable concept. Independent tests will first have to show how well it works with the new LG television.

Without the vibration sound technology, the LG G2 with 97 inches in the course of the second Flatpanels HD reported in March that they will appear in the first half of 2022 for around 25,000 euros. Accordingly, an even higher price would be conceivable for the vibration sound.

For gamers who are looking for rather compact televisions for connecting the game console or PC, LG has presented the first 42-inch and 48-inch OLED EX models. According to Flatpanels HD, the 42″ panel in the LG C2 series should also be launched in the second half of the year.
