Tower of Fantasy has been available in the Chinese market since late 2021, but it didn't fare well there against HoYoverse's Genshin Impact. Today, Tower of Fantasy has been released worldwide and with over 4.1 million registered users, the game proves it can compete.
The similarities two anime games
The Tower of Fantasy developed by Hotta Studio and published by Level Infinite is said to be a possible competitor for Genshin Impact, as both games have a lot in common. Both titles feature an open world, element-focused combat system, mobility features like swimming, climbing and gliding, a gacha system, and both make heavy use of anime style. Still, Tower of Fantasy has some changes that differentiate the game from the HoYoverse title.
The world has a sci-fi setting, because the MMORPG takes place on another planet: post-apocalyptically, the player is hundreds of years in the future on the planet Aida. Mankind fled there after an environmental catastrophe. The player explores the open world with his self-created character and fights opponents with an action combat system and various sci-fi weapons. The developer relies on switching between different weapons and the associated fighting styles. Genshin developer HoYoverse is also working on an anime game with a sci-fi setting: Zenless Zone Zero.
Unlike in Genshin Impact, in Tower of Fantasy all online players play in one world and can make it unsafe together and kill bosses. In Genshin Impact, on the other hand, the player could only play with the host in the host's own world. To get from A to B faster, the anime character in Tower of Fantasy can unlock mounts and use them to move around.
Interested parties on Steam and Epic Games have to be patient
The title is already listed on Steam and Epic Games and can be added to the wish list there. Nevertheless, the MMORPG will not appear on the platforms mentioned today, but only in an unknown time, but still this year. Anyone who wants to descend to the planet Aida today can download and play the game from the anime game page. As with Genshin Impact, the game is available for Android, iOS, and iPadOS alongside PC. The anime MMORPG appears in German interface language and with subtitles, but not in German dubbing. You can choose between English or Japanese to match the anime style.
