Weekend viewing tips: Luck, Lightyear, Carter, The Sandman and more

We hardly watch traditional TV anymore. Streaming video services like Apple TV+ (try for free), Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon Prime Video are more important than ever. But local providers such as Videoland, CineMember and Ziggo also have plenty to offer. More series are added every week and it is nice to know which series, films and documentaries really stand out. We have therefore made a selection.

New on Apple TV+: Luck

Luck is a new animated film for all ages, which you can now watch on Apple TV+. It is Apple's first 3D animated full-length feature film, made in collaboration with Skydance Animation. It could have come from Pixar Studios, but it's really only available on Apple TV+.

The film revolves around Sam Greenfield (voiced by Eva Noblezada), who is the most unlucky person on Earth. She soon finds a lucky coin, which changes everything. The coin comes from a talking black cat named Bob (played by Simon Pegg). Sam follows Bob to a secret world called Land of Luck. There magical creatures appear to keep a close eye on the balance between luck and bad luck.

In Luck you will also hear the voices of Jane Fonda, John Ratzenberger, Whoopi Goldberg and others. They play a diverse group of characters, from flying pigs to pink dragons. Apple is so proud of this film that there is a takeover on the home page. You can also encounter the characters from the film in other places.
