With iPadOS 16, some iPad models have a new multitasking function that is intended to give users a better overview of open apps and windows with the help of the new Stage Manager. However, this continues to cause problems, which is why iPadOS 16 is rumored to be delayed and not released together with iOS 16.

What problems arise in connection with Stage Manager, which manages the apps and windows from the iPad Pro and iPad Air with M1 main processor, allows several apps to overlap and is said to have a high memory requirement for this, which has the technical limitation and the exclusion of the iPads with A-SoC is not yet known. So far, new versions of iOS and iPadOS have always been released simultaneously in September since the two operating systems split, but according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, iPadOS 16 could now be delayed by around a month and not be released until October.
iPadOS 16 only with new iPads
Even if iPadOS 16 would not be available for existing iPads until later, the release in October should be available in time for new iPads. A new iPad Pro and iPad are currently expected in October. As with new iPhone models, Apple always delivers new iPads with the new software version, which would still be possible in this case. At the end of July, Apple released the fourth beta version of iPadOS 16 to testers. It is also available as part of the public beta test as Public Beta 2 and can be tried out by anyone right now.
iOS 16 Beta 4 with more problems
The fourth beta version of iOS 16 has now also been released, which, like iPadOS 16, is also available as public beta 2. Compared to the third beta of iOS 16, however, the new version causes more problems for many users – for example with frozen, hanging and terminating apps and suddenly a sharp reduction in display brightness when the smartphone is switched on. Since iOS 16 does not have the Stage Manager function of iPadOS 16, there should not be a delay here.
