Intel has released two updated versions of its graphics driver, now classifying Comet Lake and older generations as Legacy. The manufacturer also announces that from now on the 6th to 10th core generation will only receive a corresponding update of the driver in the case of serious security gaps.
The 10th core generation and older are now legacy
Intel has released the graphics drivers v101.3222 (PDF) and v101.2111 (PFD) and is now running on two tracks. While the integrated Intel HD, UHD, Iris Xe and Arc graphics units from the 11th and 12th generation CPUs will continue to receive updates, the 6th to 10th generation are now officially classified as “Legacy”.
Software updates for these products are released on a quarterly basis or with software releases as needed.

- 10th Gen Intel Core processors with Intel UHD graphics (“Comet Lake”)
- 9th Gen Intel Core processors, related Pentium/Celeron processors and Intel Xeon processors, with Intel UHD Graphics 630 (Coffee Lake-R)
- 8th Gen Intel Core processors, related Pentium/Celeron processors and Intel Xeon processors, with Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655 and – – Intel UHD Graphics 610, 620, 630, P630 (“Kaby Lake-R” & “Coffee Lake” )
- Intel Pentium and Celeron processors (“Gemini Lake”)
- 7th generation Intel Core processors, related Pentium/Celeron processors and Intel Xeon processors, with Intel Iris Plus Graphics 640 , 650 and Intel HD Graphics 610, 615, 620, 630, P630 (“Kaby Lake”)
- Intel Core, Intel Core M and related 6th generation Pentium processors with Intel Iris Graphics 540, Intel Iris Graphics 550, Intel Iris Pro Graphics 580 and Intel HD Graphics 510, 515, 520, 530 (“Skylake”)
- Intel Pentium processors and Intel Celeron processor family (“Jasper Lake”)
- Intel Atom, Pentium and Celeron processors (“Elkhart Lake”)
- Intel Core processor with Intel hybrid technology (“Lakefield “)
The integrated graphics units of the core CPUs from the 6th to 10th generation are usually only maintained quarterly with bug fix releases beyond that, however, no more features or optimizations for games.
It was only in November last year that Intel merged its UHD graphics drivers for the 6th to 12th generation of core processors.
