More and more manufacturers are thinking that monitors should not be missing from the portfolio of suppliers of PC components. After Asus, Gigabyte and MSI, ASRock is now jumping on the gaming monitor bandwagon. Two models have already been discovered.

The reference to the first ASRock monitors was provided by Twitter user @momomo_us, who is already known for such discoveries. After a short search, the origin of the “leak” is found: AMD lists the two ASRock monitors on the official support list of FreeSync monitors.

ASRock's first monitors appear in databases

ASRock PG34WQ15R

The PG34WQ15R with a 34-inch diagonal uses a VA panel with 3,440 × 1,440 pixels in 21:9 format. The refresh rate should reach 165 Hz via DisplayPort and a maximum of 100 Hz via HDMI. This indicates DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.0.

ASRock PG27FF

The PG27FF, on the other hand, is a 27-inch monitor with an IPS panel and 1,920 × 1,080 pixels in 16:9 format. This should also reach up to 165 Hz, both via DisplayPort and HDMI. Thanks to the lower resolution, DisplayPort 1.2 and HDMI 2.0 are also sufficient here.

Both models are classified as FreeSync Premium and therefore support the so-called Low Framerate Compensation (LFC): if the frame rate (FPS) falls below the minimum refresh rate of the monitor (in this case 48 Hz), the images are multiplied to keep FPS and Hertz for to keep a smooth image playback in sync.

The official DisplayPort database of the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) also confirms the existence of the two monitors not yet presented by ASRock. The website behind the HDCP encryption standard for DisplayPort and HDMI also provides information about other variants of the PG27FF, which go by the names PG27F15R, PG27FF1A and PG27F15R2A.

The nomenclature could, however provide further information about the equipment. While the “F” stands for “Full HD” and the “WQ” for “WQHD”, a “15R” could stand for a curved display with a radius of 1.5 meters (usually called 1500R). The ASRock PG34WQ15R and the PG27F15R(2A) would then be curved displays.

Ultimately, only the official presentation by ASRock will reveal further details about the monitors. Nevertheless, the editors have already asked the manufacturer and will supplement the message if necessary.
