Meross built-in switch is coming to Europe

We recently wrote a review of the Meross night light. The Asian brand has many accessories with HomeKit and is (obviously) characterized by the low price. Now an in-wall relay has been added to the range. You may know such a built-in switch from KlikAanKlikUit, Fibaro and similar brands, but then they are not always equipped with HomeKit support. This new built-in module does. You install it behind your light switch, if there is enough room for it. The light button then suddenly becomes a smart button and appears in your Home app, without the need for a hub.

A built-in module has the advantage that the existing light switch can be replaced after installation. There is a drawback to this: if you turn the switch, the power supply is immediately switched off and the lamp can no longer be operated in HomeKit. If you have roommates who sometimes accidentally touch the buttons, then it is less convenient. There are also solutions for this, but then you have to buy extra hardware and then you might as well replace the entire light switch with a smart one.

The Meross Smart Wi-Fi In-Wall Switch works with a direct WiFi connection and is specially intended for the European market. You need a neutral wire for installation. In terms of price, you're right: $14/€14 each. The aforementioned Bosch Smart Home Light/Roller Shutter Control II is available at Amazon for €74.95 (if in stock). This accessory is in stock at Amazon Germany, if you prefer a traditional brand.
