AMD briefly posted a video on its official YouTube channel promising a new audio feature for the Adrenalin Edition graphics driver. The function, which is called Noise Suppression – i.e. noise suppression process – is expected to be a later counter to Nvidia RTX Voice.

Graphic chip and AI should audio -Improve streams

Since April 2020, Nvidia has been filtering noise via GPU and deep learning and using Nvidia RTX Voice to free both recorded and played recordings from background noise, which should pay off, especially in times of the corona virus and the associated increased need for home office solutions. In the future, AMD Noise Suppression is said to be a competitor that uses the graphics card and AI for better audio streams.

AMD has meanwhile returned the status of the official product video to ” Private” is set, but the video is available to the author, as the following screenshots show. Twitter user @ayxerious.

Feature uses deep learning in real time

The manufacturer promises in connection with the integration of AMD Noise Suppression in the Adrenalin graphics driver has the following features:

AMD Noise Suppression

  • Intelligent Audio Enhancement
  • Powered by Real-Time Deep Learning Algorithm
  • That works across various Apps and Games
  • Delivering Two-Way Noise Reduction
  • Input and Output

Uploading to AMD's official YouTube channel vouches for the authenticity of the video, the quality, AMD uploaded the video in 240p, that it must have been an accidental upload. The video is also still available via the sub-Reddit r/AMD.

Under the title “Elevate Your Audio Experience”, AMD promises “Cleared. crisp Communication.”

As with Nvidia RTX Voice, AMD Suppression also benefits from intelligent noise suppression not only for business conference calls, for example via Skype or Zoom, but also for streams and online games. Which clearly speaks for an implementation of the feature in the driver.

Release still unknown

It remains to be seen whether AMD will release a high-resolution video in the near future or whether the announcement was simply made too early. At the end of the short trailer it says “AMD Software Adrenalin Edition” and “Available Now!”, so integrating the feature into one of the next releases of the graphics driver is definitely an option.
