Alpine A110 E-ternit ?, unveiled the concept that anticipates the electric sports car of the future

Alpine aims to become a 100% electric brand . As already we know, a number of battery-powered vehicles will arrive over the next few years. Now, the automaker has chosen the setting for the French Formula 1 GP to unveil the Alpine A110 E-ternit & eacute; concept . It is a prototype of a 100% electric sports car that must be seen as a sort of laboratory where the brand is experimenting with the electric technologies that, in the future, will arrive inside its cars.

PERFORMANCE AND LIGHTNESS

Even in the electric era, Alpine models will have to continue to offer the same features as current cars with internal combustion engines. So, in making the A110 electric, the brand has worked to match performance, balance and agility; of the thermal version.

From the design point of view, Alpine wanted to propose an electric A110 with a roof made of recycled carbon fiber that can be removed. Overall, the most materials were used for the car. light as possible to contain the weight. Some elements, for example, are were made of linen fiber produced by the company Terre de Lin which, according to what is told, offers a resistance similar to that of carbon. However, the design of the components is; today compatible with different composite materials, which allows the use of a single mold to produce indiscriminately with carbon, glass or linen fibers.

Alpine, for its electric concept, declares a weight of 1.378 kg , even if the goal is to reach 1,320 kg (weight distribution 42%/58%). For comparison, the endothermic model A110 weighs 1,120 kg. As for the interior, the differences with the petrol engine model are mainly found in a new infotainment system and in an audio system consisting of 8 speakers and a subwoofer.

Coming to the powertrain, Alpine explains that for the concept & egrave; The same 60 kWh battery as the Megane E-Tech Electric was used. However, in order to obtain an optimal distribution of the masses, four modules have been placed at the front and eight at the rear. The electric motor delivers 178 kW (242 hp) and 300 Nm of torque .

To optimize performance without having to focus on even more power; which would also require higher capacity batteries; that would affect the overall weight, Alpine has decided to adopt a two-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) with electronic drive as on the thermal A110, but with clutches sized for high torques. The double clutch solution allows for no torque gaps, while remaining compact and light.

Speaking of performance, we have speed; maximum of 250 km/h against the 260/280 km/h of the different versions of the endothermic model. To go from 0 to 100 km/h it takes 4.5 seconds (4.2-4.4 seconds for the endothermic). Alpine declares an autonomy of up to 420 km.

No mention & egrave; was done on the platform. As we know, the future electric A110 that will arrive in 2026 will adopt & agrave; a platform developed together with Lotus .
