The extensive range of gaming monitors from Asus has grown with another model in the classic 16:9 format. The ROG Swift PG32UQR delivers 4K UHD on 32 inches with 144 Hz – the data sheet even states up to 155 Hz.

144 Hz with 155- Hz option

The IPS panel should work natively at 144 Hz, as Asus advertises in several places. However, the data sheet says a maximum of “155 Hz” for the connection via DisplayPort 1.4 with DSC (compression). So a small overclocking should be possible here. However, it is questionable whether the user will notice the additional 11 Hz. According to Asus, a maximum of 144 Hz is possible via the two HDMI 2.1 ports; when connecting a current game console it is 120 Hz. The HDMI functions ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode) and VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) are supported.

The other connections consist of a headphone socket and two USB-A sockets (5 Gbit/s) as well as a USB upstream port. The modern and practical USB-C connector is not connected.

IPS, Quantum Dots, HDR 600

The IPS panel has a backlight with quantum dots that expand the color spectrum. 98 percent of DCI-P3 and almost 100 percent of Adobe RGB should be covered. The color depth is specified as 10 bits, although it remains unclear whether there is an FRC simulation for this. While the “typical” brightness is given as 450 cd/m², a peak of 600 cd/m² should be possible. That's enough for the VESA seal DisplayHDR 600.

ELMB Sync

Extreme Low Motion Blur Sync (ELMB Sync) means that the ELMB mode can be used with a variable refresh rate (VRR, FreeSync, G-Sync) with the backlight switched on/off quickly to reduce motion blur.

Price Specifications and Availability

Price and availability information is not yet available. However, the price of the PG32UQR should be based on the very similar predecessor PG32UQ, which is currently available from around 1,000 euros. The PG32UQX is much more expensive because of the mini-LED technology.
