The American startup Canoo has shared the first images of its electric prototypes that it will provide & agrave; to NASA. Last April, the company & agrave; had made it known that it had been selected to build the Crew Transportation Vehicles that will be used in the future for the Artemis program. In practice, the company & agrave; will provide; electric minivans to transport crews to the launch pad.
The first images of these battery-powered vehicles were taken directly at the Kennedy Space Center.
LOTS OF SPACE ON BOARD 
To make the cars, Canoo & egrave; started with its Lifestyle Vehicle model . Indeed, apart from some graphics with the NASA logo, externally no particular differences are appreciated. The personalization, on the other hand, concerns the passenger compartment. For its Crew Transportation Vehicles, NASA has provided precise specifications that the model of the company & agrave; American respects.
In addition to the driver, the vehicle must be able to carry four astronauts and three ground crew , as well as all the equipment destined for the mission. Also, the vehicle must be electric. Among the requirements there is; also a minimum autonomy of 50 miles, that is; about 80 km. Not much but we must think that the task of these minivans is; only that of accompanying the crew to the launch pads (about 9 miles each trip equal to about 15 km).
The Canoo model also fully satisfies this requirement since the platform on which it rests is ; designed to offer very different distances. Canoo has until June 2023 to deliver all vehicles to NASA. Is not serious; clear how many units & agrave; have been ordered. There shouldn't be any problems however as Canoo's Lifestyle Vehicle model will enter & agrave; in production by the end of 2022.

We remind you that this minivan has a 224 kW powertrain powered by an 80 kWh battery. The autonomy reaches up to 250 miles, that is; about 400 km. The strong point is; the great customization. Thanks to its flexible platform can & ograve; be adapted to customer requests.
For Canoo, the contract with NASA certainly represents a beautiful advertising showcase and also an important economic income.
