PLATFORM AND DIMENSIONS

The Honda Civic e: HEV of the eleventh generation exploits a technological and modern platform, evolved starting from the one already; present with the past generation. & Egrave; was reinforced from the point of view of the torsion – + 22% compared to the current Civic, on the levels of Civic Type R – without however & ograve; result more & ugrave; heavy ( 1,520 kg dry ). The new internal combustion engine, revised compared to that of CR-V & egrave; now able to achieve a thermal efficiency of 41% , almost a record for the automotive industry. The three engines are placed in the front area of ​​the car, thus as the unit PCU control unit that manages the operation of the heat engine. The battery of about 1 kWh with 72 cells is; placed under the rear bench and powers the two electric motors. & Egrave; now more small and light compared to those used in the past, but with a greater density; energy (+ 46% compared to Honda CR-V).

TECHNOLOGY

Great push also on the technology side for the new Civic e: HEV, aiming to become a reference in the hatchback sector. You cannot & ograve; do not mention, standard , the Honda Sensing safety package on the first Elegance trim level, providing as standard a second level semi-assisted driving . In the upper area of ​​the windshield & egrave; so & igrave; a new 100 & deg; camera is available, capable of detecting more effectively; clear pedestrians, bicycles, horizontal and vertical signs, other vehicles and all that & ograve; which can & ograve; appear on the street. INTERNAL

Great technological momentum also for the passenger compartment, where the “ heavy '' setting is abandoned of the past model in favor of a greater aesthetic cleanliness, daughter of European tastes. Surprising then the space in the rear , where the extra 35 mm of the wheelbase was entirely dedicated to the passengers' legs. It is a powertrain group that promises fuel consumption and emissions below 1.0, better performance than 1.5 (with a 0-100 km/h of just 7.8 seconds) and higher torque than diesel. & Egrave; satisfying to drive, with a full-bodied thrust and the revised e-CVT system cancels the annoying scooter effect of continuously variable gearboxes. So it is, also simulated the presence of ratios, acting on the engine revolutions, without letting us notice a system substantially devoid of gears and clutches.


It also updates dynamically. The most important platform rigid of the past offers a better driving dynamics , with suspensions now able to support better from the lateral yaw, without compromising the management of holes and bumps. The containment of aerodynamic noises is also excellent.

I also really appreciated the sensitivity & agrave; of the braking system , really direct and devoid of the annoying spongy feeling, typical of hybrid cars. By the way, regenerative braking is; available on three levels, selectable with the paddles behind the steering wheel. Praise also the steering , fast, full-bodied and capable of instilling a lot of safety even at high speeds.

CONSUMPTION I think this is probably one of the best full hybrid architectures I have tried to date. In urban areas, the heat engine is activated intermittently to recharge the battery that powers the electric motors. It becomes so a half electric car, capable of reaching averages of about 24 or 25 km/l, exploiting the efficient regeneration of energy. In the suburban area , in addition to traveling with high acoustic comfort, it stabilizes the ride on 19 or 20 km/l , while on the motorway , when the speeds they go up, it works mainly with the 2.0 petrol engine, with averages of 15 km/l .
