V Rising: Vampire game hits 1 million sales in 7 days

Just one week after the release, the developer Stunlock announces that it has broken the one million sales mark with its latest vampire title. Stunlock then brings the patch with the option to play the game offline.

Sales figures surprise the developers

The new vampire game V Rising has sold one million on Steam after about a week of Early Access release, as developer and publisher Stunlock Studios announced on Twitter. Stunlock's community manager Jeremy Fielding admits to IGN that nobody on the development team expected the game to be so popular. In fact, in terms of sales, V Rising relegated the Steam Deck to second place on the Steam charts, after Valve's handheld topped the list for several months earlier.

The vampire game has been available as early access for around 20 euros on Steam since May 17, 2022. V Rising offers a wide range of game concepts: The open game world of the vampire game contains, among other things, survival, crafting and building elements. In addition, there is a hack and slash combat system. Fielding joked about the wide spectrum of game concepts:

People just want to play. When you're just hearing about the concept it's really hard to grasp what it is. We have a fairly unique game that's kind of hard to explain – we say dark fantasy vampire survival action RPG – and when you say that there's a million different things your brain can do with it. I think it doesn't really process until you see it or feel it.

Gamers seem to like the colorful mixture, because on Steam the game is rated “very positive” with over 14,500 player reviews – a total of around 88 percent of the As a result, players indicated that they would recommend V Rising. In addition, on Sunday, the title recorded an all-time high of 150,000 players playing the title simultaneously on Steam.

Recently also playable without internet

Now the developer's latest patch gives players the much-requested ability to play offline. Unlike before, players no longer need an internet connection to play the game. The patch should also make cooperative offline play possible, so it is possible to play locally via LAN with a co-vampire, for which the player must set up their own local server.
