The Region speaks openly of wanting to become the & ldquo; Hydrogen Valley & rdquo; Italian and European. Entering more in detail, the Piedmont Region presented the & quot; Flag Project & quot; linked to the theme of hydrogen thanks to which it hopes to attract European funds from the NRP and, in particular, 70 million euros through the various funding lines that look to hydrogen and renewable sources.

The objective is; create an entire value chain linked to hydrogen that includes research, production, consumption, transport and supply.

THE PROJECT

According to the President of the Region Alberto Cirio , Piedmont has all the credentials to become a reference point in the hydrogen sector. Thanks to a geographic location defined as strategic at an international level for road traffic, Piedmont is a candidate to be an ideal region for the North-West in which to install hydrogen recharging and supply points for trucks arriving from Northern Europe.

The goal, however, is not only produce hydrogen but also do it at a low cost compared to the current one to make it affordable for everyone. For this, we will aim; also about search.

Another great potential the industrial ecosystem of companies interested in reconverting their energy consumption in a hybrid and more sustainable key, combining the use of hydrogen with traditional sources. C & rsquo; & egrave; then the transport front, with the possibility; to experiment with hydrogen on local road and rail transport by renewing the fleet with green buses and trains. In short, a complete ecosystem, among the few with these characteristics in Europe, which can; also rely on the excellence of research through the Universities; of Turin and Eastern Piedmont and the Polytechnic.

In short, Piedmont intends to exploit the opportunities; 360 degrees hydrogen in different scopes. There are currently 28 discharged industrial sites in the region that have applied to become hydrogen production centers: 12 in Turin, 8 in Novara, 4 in Cuneo, 3 in the VCO (Verbano Cusio Ossola) and 1 in Vercelli.
