The 27-inch AOC Agon Pro AG274QZM is comparatively cheap for a monitor with a mini-LED backlight. This offers an IPS panel with WQHD, 240 Hz and 1 ms. With DisplayHDR 1000, USB-C, KVM function and glare protection, the equipment is still lavish.

AOC has the cheapest mini LED monitors

The few mini LED monitors on the market usually cost several thousand euros. AOC already presented by far the cheapest model in the form of the Agon AG274QXM with WQHD and 170 Hz. The new Agon Pro AG274QZM even has the same resolution with 240 Hz and at an RRP of 1,309 euros, which is already over in online retail 100 euros is undercut.

AG274QZM with HDR 1000 and 576 zones

The second cheapest mini LED monitor in the price comparison has 576 mini LED zones with individually adjustable brightness. The local dimming is therefore significantly finer than with conventional LED backlights, but not as precise as with more expensive mini LED monitors with over 1,000 zones such as the AOC Porsche Design Agon Pro PD32M, which also offers a lot more, but also costs around 2,000 euros.

In the AG274QZM, the mini-LED technology in combination with a high peak brightness of 1,200 cd/m² (selectively) ensures extended HDR suitability, which is underpinned by the DisplayHDR 1000 certification. To ensure that bright ambient light does not disturb the effect, a glare protection is included, as known from professional monitors for image processing.

240 Hz and HDMI 2.1 for Player

However, the AG274QZM is designed for gamers and offers an IPS panel specified with a 1 ms response time, a maximum refresh rate of 240 Hz and support for AMD FreeSync and Nvidia G-Sync. One DisplayPort 1.4 and two HDMI 2.1 are mentioned as video inputs; however, a figure shows two DisplayPorts. There is also a USB-C upstream port with DP alt mode and 65 watts of power delivery. There is also a headphone output and a quad USB hub (USB 3.2 Gen 1 aka USB 3.0 with 5 Gbps). Input devices for two systems can be used via the KVM function.

The RGB LED light strips provide a gaming ambience (Light FX) on the back, whose colors and light patterns are customizable and can be synchronized with other AOC devices. As with the Asus ROG, there is also an LED projector in the stand that projects the company logo. The cable remote control called “Quick Switch” offers quick access to certain monitor settings.

AOC states availability in June 2022 at the said price.
