Ferrari Roma Tailor Made, a one-of-a-kind homage to Japanese culture

Ferrari presented a new unique model resulting from the work of the Ferrari Tailor Made department and based on the Ferrari Roma. This special car & egrave; was made with the input of buyers, Evan Orensten and Josh Rubin, founders of COOL HUNTING, an independent magazine, whose goal & egrave; explore the most synergies; recent in the fields of design, culture and technology.

The car, created by the supercar customization department, features a design inspired by traditional Japanese craftsmanship .

INSPIRED BY THE JAPANESE TRADITION

The starting idea of ​​ Evan Orensstrong

The body color, Indigo Metal , & egrave; a tribute to the traditional Japanese Indigo dye that is produced through natural processes. The same tonality chromatic & egrave; been used to connect the exterior and interior of the car. In fact, the headliner, the seat inserts and the mats are made of Sakiori fabric in Indigo (or Indigo) color.

And speaking of the fabric, Maranello tells which is obtained from the recycling of old kimonos. To make the best use of these fabrics & egrave; a particular technique has been adopted.

Two vintage kimonos originally made in Amami Oshima, an island in the southern archipelago of Japan were used: an indigo-dyed kimono aged around 75 and one aged around 45. Instead of using traditional silk or cotton wefts, the fabrics of the kimonos have been woven with sturdy, high-strength nylon filaments to ensure indispensable longevity; of the car interior.

The interior door handles are covered in hand-woven black leather, while the gearshift gate, levers and arch of the double cockpit are colored copper, a tribute to traditional copper tea containers. No changes & egrave; instead, it was made to mechanics.

This unique model will be; exhibited until May 20 in the Ferrari Tailor Made Showroom during NYC X DESIGN.
