BMW 3 Series, restyling debuts. Tweaks to the design and a lot of technology

BMW unveiled the restyling of the 3 Series. Not even two days ago, the German carmaker shared a teaser announcing the upcoming arrival of this model update. For the sedan and the German station wagon there are several novelties; both in design and in content with the introduction of the new infotainment system with the iDrive 8 platform.

The major news of the restyling can be found, however, inside the passenger compartment. As some spy photos of the prototypes had anticipated, BMW has chosen to adopt a large curved panel for the dashboard.inside which we find the instrumentation displays (12.3 inches) and the actual infotainment system (14.9 inches). As mentioned at the beginning, the infotainment system can count on the new iDrive 8 platform. Therefore, you can & agrave; have access to all features advanced digital developed by the manufacturer. The OTA updates were also present.

BMW then simplified the dashboard, minimizing the presence of physical controls. Many features of the car, in fact, are managed directly from the infotainment.

ENGINES AND SAFETY

As for the engines, there are no particular innovations. The new BMW 3 Series sedan can & ograve; be ordered in three plug-in hybrid variants and the new BMW 3 Series Touring in 4. To these units & agrave; four petrol engines and four four- or six-cylinder diesel engines are added for both the sedan and the Touring.
