With the Smart Lock 3.0 (test) and 3.0 Pro, Nuki offers a Smart Lock as a retrofit solution, with the Nuki Smart Door now following the smart door with a directly integrated Smart Lock for new buildings or renovations. Already promised last summer, the Smart Door is now available.

Hardwired with the well-known Nuki button

With the Nuki Smart Door, the motor lock is invisibly integrated directly into the door; the control element known from the Nuki Smart Lock, the Nuki Button, is only installed on the inside, which can be used to lock and unlock the door. The Nuki Button is connected to the motorized lock inside the door via a cable and supplies it with power. The Nuki Button is permanently wired and supplied with power via the hinge side of the door. It is available in both round and square versions in black and silver. Rechargeable batteries or rechargeable batteries are not used in the Nuki Smart Door. The Smart Door from Nuki is a retrofit solution in the rarest of cases due to the considerable installation effort, even if Nuki offers both the button and a motorized lock in its own shop for end customers. Instead, with the Smart Door, Nuki has all those customers in mind who are building or renovating a new house.

Invisible and quieter

In addition to the advantage that the technology disappears invisibly in the door instead of being placed on the inside, the Smart Door should also work much more quietly than the previous Smart Lock thanks to the integration. However, the Nuki Bridge, which connects the lock to the Internet via Bluetooth and thus makes it remotely controllable, is not directly integrated into the Smart Door. It must still be placed in a nearby outlet. Nothing changes in the interaction with smart home systems and assistants such as IFTTT, Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, they can be used to control the smart door. The new Smart Door is also compatible with existing accessories such as the Nuki Keypad and the Nuki Fob and the functions known from the Smart Lock such as Auto Unlock are available.

The Nuki Smart Door can also still be unlocked and locked in the classic way with a key. If the smartphone is not at hand or its battery is empty, you do not exclude yourself.

Cooperation with door manufacturers

A Nuki Smart Door is available as a complete door in various designs from Nuki's door partners such as Dana, Gaulhofer, Kapo and Unilux. A price for the Smart Door cannot be given due to the different models. Alternatively, any joinery can make an individual Smart Door out of wood. For this purpose, Nuki offers both trade partners in the Nuki Pro program and end customers a suitable set. This consists of the KFV Genius motor lock, the Nuki Button, which is both the control element and contains the technology, and the Nuki Bridge. The set costs 1,999 euros for end customers – craftsmen can get it cheaper in the Nuki Pro program. Further details are available on the Nuki Smart Door website.
