As is often the case with tvOS, the update to tvOS 15.5 offers no visible changes. It's mostly bug fixes and performance improvements. tvOS 16 is coming soon, so we expect Apple to not announce any new features before then.
tvOS 15.5 Available
The previous major update of tvOS (15.4) brought surprisingly new features to the Apple TV, but in tvOS 15.5 we're back to the old pattern. As is often the case, there are only changes that you cannot see with the naked eye. If it becomes more clear at a later time which improvements Apple has made, we will update this article. Download tvOS 15.5
tvOS 15.5 is only available on the Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K (both the 2021 and 2017 versions) . Not sure which Apple TV you have? Check out our article with all Apple TV models. It tells you exactly how to identify the models.
To download tvOS 15.5:
- On the Apple TV, go to the Settings app.
- Choose System, at the very bottom.
- Select Software Update and check if the new update can be installed.
- The update will be downloaded and the Apple TV will restart when the installation is complete.
