We hardly watch traditional TV anymore. Streaming video services like Apple TV+ (try for free), Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon Prime Video are more important than ever. But local providers such as Videoland, Film1 and Ziggo also have plenty to offer. More series are added every week and it is nice if you know which series, films and documentaries really stand out. We have therefore made a selection.

New on Apple TV+: The Essex Serpent

In The Essex Serpent, we see the newly widowed Cora Seaborne (Claire Danes) leave for Essex to investigate a mythical serpent. There she forms a surprising bond with the local pastor (Tom Hiddleston), a handsome and well-read figure who is skeptical whether the monster even exists. He tries to calm the people. Meanwhile, Cora tries to convince the population with scientific arguments. But as one tragic event after another takes place, the populace begins to believe that Cora brought the monster to their fishing village.
