DHL, agreement with Volvo Trucks to accelerate the use of electric trucks

DHL yes & egrave; set a goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050 as part of its “ Mission 2050 '' plan. To achieve this goal, the company & agrave; is carrying out several initiatives including that of electrifying the trucks it uses within its transport fleet. And to carry out this strategy, DHL announced that it has signed a new agreement with Volvo Trucks for the supply of additional 44 electric trucks to be used on European roads.

In particular, of the 44 electric trucks ordered, 40 will be Volvo FE Electric and Volvo FL models Electric which will be used for deliveries within cities. In addition, DHL will receive & agrave; 4 Volvo FM Electric that will circulate on UK roads. Going into detail, Volvo FE Electric (gross weight up to 27 tons) has a 225 kW powertrain and offers a range of up to 200 km with the largest battery capacity.


The first trucks are already; been ordered, six by DHL Parcel UK and two by DHL Freight. There & ograve; will translate & agrave; in annual savings of nearly 600 tons of CO2 and nearly 225,000 liters of diesel fuel. The cooperation between DHL and Volvo Trucks has been going on for some time. In addition to the electric truck currently on the streets of London, DHL is using a Volvo FH electric truck between DHL Freight's two terminals in Sweden, for a distance of approximately 150km.
