Star striker Erling Haaland is leaving Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund and moving to English champions Manchester City in the summer. BVB has already provided a replacement.
Goal scorer Erling Haaland will play in the Manchester City jersey
On Tuesday, both clubs announced a basic agreement on the transfer of the Norwegian super talent Erling Haaland. According to BVB, the “contractual details are still there to coordinate and document”.
BVB collects a fee of 75 million euros through an exit clause in Haaland's contract. The overall package for Manchester City with a long-term contract, bonus money for the player and payments to agents is worth several hundred million euros.
Haaland switched from Red Bull Salzburg to BVB in January 2020, where he immediately became one of the biggest attractions in the Bundesliga. In his first season in Dortmund he scored 41 goals in 41 competitive games and was the top scorer in the Champions League. He had signed for BVB for four and a half years until 2024.
Adeyemi is moving to BVB
Dortmund already have a replacement for the Norwegian. An hour after the Haaland transfer was officially confirmed, BVB announced the signing of German international striker Karim Adeyemi, who had previously played for Red Bull Salzburg. The 20-year-old has a contract until 2027. The fee is estimated at around 30 million euros.

The RB playmaker only moved to Liverpool FC with a delay in the summer of 2018. The change had been announced long before. The Reds are said to have transferred 70 million euros to Leipzig for him, around 18 million euros more than RB actually received according to the exit clause.

The Wolfsburg playmaker only signed a contract with Manchester City in the summer of 2015 after weeks of poker games and for the then Bundesliga record sum of 74 million euros. Although the VW club had even more money than it already had – the playful class of De Bruyne was noticeably missing from the “wolves”.

BVB had stipulated the transfer fee of 75 million euros in the contract for the 21-year-old top striker from Norway. Manchester City pays the sum for Haaland, who is already considered one of the best strikers in the world. The Premier League club has to dig deep into their pockets for their salary: we're talking about 30 million euros a year.
