Gi & agrave; for some years now, with the return in grand style of the GT model on the road like this; as on the track, Ford is engaging in the production of a series of limited editions of the iconic car, aimed at commemorating the marque's sporting history. These are the so-called Heritage Editions . The latest iteration of this series of limited edition versions is; the Holman Moody, which completes the triptych commemorating the extraordinary victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1966, where Ford finished & ograve; first, second and third with three GT40 MK II .
A WORKSHOP ON WHEELS
The Ford GT Holman Moody Heritage Edition , with a special reminder of the original Ford GT40 prototype debut at the 1964 New York Auto Show, will come; presented and exhibited to the public at the International Auto Show 2022 to be held right in the Big Apple alongside Ford GT40 MK II Holman Moody, chassis no. P/1016, climbed to the podium of the famous regularity race. The Holman Moody team played a key role in the GT40's success at Le Mans.
After the 1965 edition of the race, Ford commissioned; indeed Holman Moody (and Shelby American) to rework the GT40 MK II. Guided for more of 265 laps in eight days, in January 1966, chassis no. P/1016 became a workshop on wheels on which the two teams worked to redesign brakes, suspensions and tires in order to make the car more efficient; competitive, trying among other things an experimental automatic gearbox. They had only one goal: to win the 1966 Le Mans.
