The Renault Megane E-Tech Electric & egrave; a very important model for the French car manufacturer. The new crossover, in fact, is; the first new generation electric car from Renault based on the CMF-EV platform. A car that will introduce many news also on the technological front. Now, the builder wanted to tell something more; on the battery which is described as the & quot; most & ugrave; thin on the market & quot ;.

HIGH DENSITY? ENERGY

Going into the details, the accumulator of the new Megane E-Tech Electric & egrave; only 110 mm thick , that is; 40% less than that of the Renault Zoe. The battery is also 1,960 mm long and 1,450 mm wide. The weight is of 395 kg. The reduced thickness of the battery contributed to the possibility; to reduce the height of the vehicle to 1.50 m thus improving it; l & rsquo; aerodynamics & agrave; and efficiency.

To be able to create an accumulator with such dimensions; reduced, Renault used a new version of LG's NMC (Nickel, Manganese and Cobalt) lithium-ion battery chemistry, which includes more; nickel and less cobalt. In this way & egrave; it was possible to obtain a higher density; energy , equal to 600 Wh/l. This is 20% higher than that of the Zoe's battery.

To be able to keep the battery dimensions as low as possible, the engineers of the French brand have developed a new cooling system to liquid which combines efficiency and compactness (only 18 mm high), thanks to the extruded aluminum tubes. As we know, the electric crossover is; proposed with 40 and 60 kWh batteries .

The 40 kWh accumulator is; composed of 8 modules of 24 cells each, arranged on a single layer. The 60 kWh one, on the other hand, is; composed of 12 modules of 24 cells each, arranged on two layers. In both cases, the battery dimensions remain the same.

The batteries have a warranty of 8 years or 160,000 km. During the warranty period, they are replaced free of charge if they degrade to less than 70% of their capacity; nominal, level that the owner will be able to easily check through the My Renault App, for example, to guarantee the value of the vehicle in case of resale.

Finally, remember that the new Renault Megane E-tech Electric can & ograve; be ordered in Italy with prices starting from 37,100 euros.
