Car manufacturers are investing a lot of resources not only in electrification but also in the development of advanced assisted driving solutions to offer with their cars. On this theme comes an interesting novelty; which concerns the BMW Group . In fact, the German group, Qualcomm and Arriver Software have announced a strategic collaboration with the aim of developing assisted driving technologies.
Specifically, we talk about the joint development of advanced Level 2 and Level 3 driving assistance solutions (here we explain the meaning of the Levels of autonomous driving). As a basis for the development of these new solutions we will start of the BMW Automated Driving software platformthat & egrave; was made available for the first time on the new BMW iX and which, in the future, will be; further improved thanks to the work of BMW, Qualcomm and Arriver Software.
The partnership will focus on on the development of a scalable platform based on a shared architecture and data center. Over 1,400 people will work together in different countries including Germany, the United States, Sweden, China, Romania and the Czech Republic at the BMW Test Center. The three companies also let it be known that they are open to expanding the collaboration to any other realities; interested.
The news is; certainly very interesting and comes a few months after the announcement that BMW would use the Qualcomm hardware platform for the assisted driving systems that would arrive in its cars in the future. All that remains is to wait for the fruits of this work, but it seems clear that BMW wants to accelerate the development of assisted driving, which today is more and more; important for modern cars.
