The city of Genoa wants to make more & ugrave; smart the use of public transport with the objectives of improving the travel experience of citizens and simplifying the use of public transport for tourists. In Genoa & egrave; The ILA (instant lane access) project promoted in collaboration with AMT and Visa was therefore presented, which provides the possibility; to access transport services through contactless payment. Let's see the main details.

START IMMEDIATELY

The experimental project started immediately. Therefore, passengers on public transport in Genoa can use their debit, credit, prepaid or contactless cards, Visa and other enabled operators, to purchase tickets and access the services of the AMT network, simply by touching their payment card. to ILA smart totems and validators.

In this first phase, the experimentation foresees 10 stops of the Genoese urban network equipped with the new ILA smart totems and smart validators on board the buses which provide connection services with the airport, Volabus and Airlink. The experimentation involves a total of 45 totems and smart ILA validators that will be progressively installed.

< p> The new system brings several advantages as well as making more; simple purchasing of tickets, such as ` been explained.

The system provides for the possibility; by the customer to access the services of the AMT network in mode & agrave; contactless, without having to purchase a physical ticket, and to benefit from the best fares offers (the best possible rate, calculated on the basis of the duration of the trip and the number of travelers), both single and multi-passenger, with the use of a single payment card, up to four people. Thanks to this innovative set-up, for the first time in Italy, the system offers users the possibility; to access, through their contactless payment tool, rates dedicated to groups, such as the 24-hour ticket for 4 people or the rate dedicated to the Volabus for 3 people.

The experimentation will be; limited, for the moment, to some areas of the city; of Genoa. Based on the results obtained, we will evaluate; whether to expand the extent of availability of the service. The new system is based on the technological infrastructure developed in collaboration with Visa by Conduent Transportation, Cybersource and Elavon.

To further incentivize the use of the new system some validities have been increased; of tickets purchased through this payment system.

  • the € 1.50 AMT urban network ticket is worth 110 minutes (10 minutes more than the paper one)
  • the 5 euro Volabus ticket is worth one ride and 110 minutes on the AMT urban network (50 minutes longer than the paper)

Genoa enters this way; in the group of over 100 cities which at European level have enabled contactless payments to facilitate and develop public transport systems. In the next few days will come; presented the ILA trial in Portofino , localit & agrave; chosen for its tourist connotation.
