Stellantis has inaugurated its new logistics center built inside the Rivalta factory inside which, in the past, cars such as the Fiat Uno, the Fiat Tipo, the Lancia Delta and the Alfa Romeo 166 have been built. A production site that had been closed for about 20 years after Fiat had decided to concentrate its activities; on other plants such as that of Melfi. The redevelopment project was announced in 2018 and, now, it is; the inauguration of the new logistics center has arrived. Thanks to this project & egrave; it was possible to give a future to this establishment.

THE NUMBERS OF THE NEW PLANT an investment of 150 million euros as part of the industrial plan for Italy 2019-2021 of over 5 billion euros. The works were carried out maintaining an approach to sustainability; 360 degrees. For example, construction materials with low environmental and emission impact have been chosen, low water consumption systems have been installed and about 100 trees have been planted, chosen among the species with the highest CO2 absorption.

The new logistics hub occupies a covered area of ​​238 thousand meters square and supporter & agrave; all over Europe (over 5,000 destinations). The warehouse alone occupies an area of ​​220 thousand square meters. The warehouse is; equipped with 50 loading and unloading piers equipped with a particular safety system that allows the locking of the wheels of vehicles. The Autostore and the automatic shelf , called in technical jargon ASRS (Automated storage and retrieval system), are the beating heart of the activities; of the new logistics center.

In particular, the Autostore occupies an area of ​​5 thousand square meters. Within this area, about 230,000 different medium/small-sized products are stored. The required material is picked up by 60 robots which move at a speed; of 3 meters per second and are able to process 1,000 picking cycles per hour. The spare is transported by robots up to 13 “operator bays” that is; areas, where the operators receive the material and organize the shipment to the customers.

The Automated High Bay Warehouse is; a system consisting of a self-supporting double-depth shelving; storage with 12 stacker cranes, a sorting system with 22 self-propelled shuttles and 7 & ldquo; operator bays & rdquo; for large materials and manages 10% of the spare part numbers corresponding to about 15% of the order lines of the entire Rivalta warehouse. It occupies an area of ​​10 thousand square meters.

The Parts Distribution Center in Rivalta & egrave; equipped with a photovoltaic system consisting of approximately 2,900 solar panels capable of self-producing over 1.1 MW of electricity equal to approximately 17% of the plant's needs. The remaining requirement is covered through the purchase of electricity from certified renewable sources.

In the last two years, Stellantis has hired 100-150 new independents to get the new plant up and running. The rest of the staff (in total about a thousand) come from other sites of the Group.
