The Formula E championship starts again this weekend, the competition that sees the battle of single-seaters with 100% electric propulsion . The first challenge of season number eight is; scheduled for Friday & igrave; and Saturday 28 and 29 January, with the two opening rounds that will take place in Diriya, Saudi Arabia.
The GP will be disputed; at night thanks to the artificial lighting system of the track. 11 teams are expected in the race (waiting for Maserati) and 22 drivers while the calendar will come alive; of 16 races.
Among the fans, the most & ugrave; expected are the reigning world champions of the Mercedes-EQ (holder of the constructors' title) and its driver Nick DeVries (last season's world champion).
There will be three unpublished drivers for the electric competition lined up on the starting grid, including also the one. ; former Alfa Romeo Racing Formula One driver , that is our local Antonio Giovinazzi, at the services of Dragon.
Mitch Evans and Sam Bird will be the drivers of Jaguar TCS Racing , while DS Techeetah will deploy the duo Jean-Eric Vergne and Antonio Felix da Costa.
Envision Racing relies on the hands of Robin Frijns, the fifth classified last year but also on Nick Cassidy a rookie from positive premises. Jake Dennis will leave with the Avalanche Andretti alongside the only American driver on the grid, the Indy Lights 2019 champion Oliver Askew.
Venturi Racing will deploy the runner-up of last year, that is the expert Edoardo Mortara who will be & agrave; flanked by Lucas di Grassi. The all-German TAG Heuer Porsche team stays with Pascal Wehrlein and Andre Lotterer while Oliver Rowland joins compatriot Alexander Sims for Mahindra Racing .
Maximilian Guenther switches to Nissan e.dams , together with the 2015/16 champion Sebastien Buemi, while Sergio Sette Camara will support & agrave; the former Alfa Romeo F1 Racing. All that remains is to mention the NIO team with Oliver Turvey flanked by Dan Ticktum, winner of the Macau Grand Prix and current leader of the FIA Formula 2 championship.
Starting this season , Formula E races can now have an additional race time of up to 10 minutes , when accidents cause the Safety Car to be neutralized or the Full Course Yellow, during the 45 minutes (plus one lap) scheduled for the race.
The Formula E Gen2 cars will be the most ; powerful ever built thanks to the power of 220 kW electric motors (previously 200 kW). Even the power during the Mode & agrave; Attack will increase from 235 kWva to 250 kW.
There will be; much interest in seeing the new Formula E qualification format with single elimination groups and duels. The first part of the qualification will take place; in two group stages and then will end; with a head to head to define the top positions of the deployment.
