Annika Strandhäll is, through her ministerial post, responsible in the government for questions about individual sewers.

But now documents show the permit for the sewer Strandhäll's own villa in Värmdö expired in April 2019. No new application has been received since then, and a permit is therefore missing for the sewer.

– Having a valid permit is important. It shows that you purify the wastewater as you should and that it does not pose an environmental and health risk, says Malin Welander, unit manager at Värmdö municipality, to SVT.

Annika Strandhäll has declined an interview with SVT, but writes the following in a written comment:

“I have been made aware that the permit needs to be renewed. After contact with the municipality, I understand that since renewal does not happen automatically, it is not entirely uncommon to be late with the application, especially not if the house has changed owners.

We are in the middle of the process of changing homes and my intention is for a renewed permit to be in place before then. “
