Personal Safety User Guide for Concerned Users

Recently there have been quite a few stories about the AirTag and how it can jeopardize your personal safety. For example, some users reported that they were able to prevent their luxury car from being stolen in the nick of time and others found that they felt unsafe. AirTags are also used in a different way: a well-known female hacker discovered the location of a secret German government service by using AirTags. Apple is now responding to the concern with a ‘Personal Safety User Guide’ addressing the main objections.

The guide explains what to do if your personal safety is at stake. This can be the case, for example, with stalking. Apple says the guide should enable you to regain control if you're concerned that someone might have unauthorized access to your device or account. This can also be the case if someone has tried to break into your Apple ID. This way you get tips to revoke access once given and to stop sharing your location and other data.

There are several parts, such as choosing a strong password and managing all kinds of settings. For example, you can block suspicious login attempts, capture suspicious activity with a screenshot or video, stop sharing your location, or make sure you're safe while using an AirTag. You can also restrict data sharing within your family and identify fraudulent requests to share information. The information is mainly intended to reassure you.

The info can be found here. There is no Dutch version yet, so you will have to read everything in English for the time being.
