Domestic. In 2021, just over 10,000 immigrants in Sweden were wanted because they deviated before their deportations could be enforced. It reports SVT News.

Last year, the Swedish Migration Agency handed over more than 18,000 cases to the police regarding persons whose applications for residence permits were rejected.

These are cases where the authority has made the assessment that police are required. efforts to enforce an expulsion.

But of these people, just over 10,000 people have deviated and reported as wanted by the police.

No one knows if the illegal immigrants remain in Sweden or if they has left the country voluntarily.

– We have people who are in our society that we do not know and that no one has control over, says Cajsa Velden, head of the National Border Police, to SVT.

2020: 16,994 of which 11,302 wanted
2019: 17,706 of which 11,818 wanted
2018: 17,515 of which 12,044 wanted
