Renault, agreement with Geely for hybrid cars in South Korea

The official is finally here; of the collaboration agreement between the Renault Group and the Geely Group which aims to launch a new range of vehicles on the South Korean market . We already had some; talked a few times but finally all the official details arrive. Specifically, the two automotive groups will work together to market thermal and hybrid vehicles, which at first will only be offered on the South Korean market but then, over time, will also be exported to other markets .

All these cars will be produced in the Renault-Samsung Motors plant (RSM) in Busan, South Korea. Production will start; over the course of 2024. There are not many details on the models that will be developed and then built. For the moment, & egrave; it was only communicated that these vehicles will use the CMA (Compact Modular Architecture) platform created by Geely and designed at its R & amp; D center based in Sweden.

Platform that & egrave; was created to be very flexible from the start, being able to adapt to traditional combustion engine solutions, but also to mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid and 100% electric options. Today it is; used by Geely Auto, Volvo, Lynk & amp; Co and Polestar. Furthermore, the cars resulting from this collaboration will be able to count on advanced hybrid engine technologies always developed by the Chinese automotive group.

Renault and its subsidiary Renault-Samsung Motors will combine their respective design and customer experience expertise, while also bringing innovative technologies to meet the demands of the local market. Thanks to this collaboration it will be; possible to accelerate the spread of hybrid models in the Asian market. In addition, the partnership is also part of the & ldquo; Renaulution & rdquo; of Renault, which intends to grow its subsidiary Renault-Samsung Motors and its product portfolio also with the contribution of important local partners.
