The suspicions are about embezzlement and among the suspects are German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock and German Deputy Chancellor Robert Habeck.

The accusation concerns infidelity against the principal and embezzlement with his own party as plaintiff, according to Der Spiegel's sources.

It was in 2020 that the Greens' federal executive committees, including Ministers Habeck and Baerbock, decided to pay a “corona bonus” to themselves. It amounted to EUR 1,500 for each of the party leaders.

However, the special payment must have been illegal. The bonus is said to have been granted from party funds and was heavily criticized by party auditors, who pointed out that it was incompatible with the party's statutes./p>
