Yamaha has unveiled a new electric scooter developed in collaboration with Gogoro . The new Yamaha EMF model is; equipped with the batteries developed by the company & agrave; Taiwan and are therefore compatible with the battery swap service it offers. This is the second time that the Japanese company has collaborated with Gogoro. In 2019 it was already; EC-05 electric scooter was launched. The new model will debut & agrave; officially in March 2022 in Taiwan.
BATTERY EXCHANGE 
The new electric scooter has a very unique design. The Japanese brand did not provide many technical details. For the moment we only know that it has a 7.6 kW electric motor and accelerates from 0 to 50 km/h in 3.1 seconds. This model also features a Combined Braking System (CBS) and digital instrumentation where all key driving information is shown. Curiosities, & egrave; There is also a storage compartment inside the scooter tunnel which include a cup holder.
To power the electric scooter the Gogoro batteries that can be replaced, once discharged, using the more than 10,000 GoStations which have allowed, up to now, to carry out over 250 million battery replacements. In big cities like Taipei, the GoStations are already; more numerous of the classic petrol stations.
Gogoro's interchangeable batteries have become popular with scooter manufacturers as a way to get around the issues of range and charging for these vehicles. Precisely for this reason, more and more; companies working in the two-wheeler sector are thinking about battery swap solutions for electric scooters.
We will hardly see the new Yamaha EMF model outside the Taiwan market too. if Gogoro is expanding its battery swap service as well in other markets such as China. However, the Japanese manufacturer seems willing to bet more & ugrave; on battery models.
As we know, in the course of 2022 (perhaps already in spring) it will be; series version of Yamaha E01 concept launched. This is an electric scooter equivalent to the 125 cc endothermic of which, recently, we have seen some first photos.
